OC Defeat Carpinteria in First Ever Match Up

Wed, Apr 25th - The Lions traveled to Carpinteria for the last dual meet of the season and the second of four visits to the Warrior track & field complex (Russell Cup, Tri Valley Dual, Tri Valley League Finals and CIF SS Prelims). With wins over the Warriors the Lions would secure a top 3 finish in league with the chance to move up at league finals.

The boys varsity made a quick disposal of the Warriors winning and sweeping event after event. With a final score of 93-40 this was the largest margin of victory for the Lions all season showing they are improving as they enter the post season. Chris Owusu remains undefeated in the 100-200-400 taking all three sprints again. Jeremy Reed took the LJ-TJ-HJ for a triple of his own. The distance demonstrates its depth winning the 800-1600-3200 highlighted by a sweep of the 800. Justin Sullivan 800, Hunter Hays 1600 and Rafael 3200 (his first career varsity win) took the honors. Malcolm was triple winner with the 110HH-SP-4x100. Zach Davis added wins in the 300IH-4x100. Cheyne Renner won the PV with a personal best 10-6 (Keeping up with Lauren, phew!). The boys won 14 of the 16 events.

The girls varsity battle to the final two events Sam Nordlund's final LJ moved her into 3rd palce grabbing a point to give the Lions 69 point the magic number clinching the victory. The girls won 69-66. Roseanne Fleming was a double winner in the 1600-800 and Emily added her first career varsity victory taking the 3200 for a Lions sweep of the distance events. Catherine Price won the 300LH, Lauren Radke won the PV and Stephanie led a sweep of the discus with Danielle and Shannon.
