Coach Smith answeres Petire's Challenge with a rainy day widowmaker. That is correct, Coach Smith ran the widowmaker without walking in the rain, slippery mud slide hills. Definitely an increased level of difficulty to the usual "hors categorie" route.

Two Times in Two Days
Thu-Fri, Dec 11-12, 2008 - Coach Smith and Stephen Cooper had to convince Charlie to join them for an easy 5 miler. Charlei agreed and we atrated down the OC driveway toward Via Rocas when Charlie suggested we run the Widowmaker! Poor Cooper! The easy 5 miler was now a 6.2 mile 2000 ft plus climb over North Ranch and Oak Park. Coach and Charlie waited at the top of the four climbs for Cooper to catch up and the three made it around the loop.
The next day we were visited by Mike Buell who was fresh off a challenging hill work out that momorning. Charlie and Coach convinced him to exchange his easy 4 mile afternoon run with a Widowmaker. Mike and Charlie earn "gold" standard as they did not stop or walk once in the route covering the distance in 53 minutes. Cristy Garcia, Nick Matra and Ethan Long completed the route some time later.
