Sat, Sep 20th - Another 5 am Saturday morning at Oaks Christian, another long drive, another day of records. This was the third time the Lions traveled to Woodbridge High in Irvine for its name-sake invitational. A very fast, very competitive 3 mile course around the campus and community. 207 schools from all over the country fielded a total exceeding 8,700 runners.

The frosh girls started the day. Madagan Riley ran a 21:53 and Brittany Tayloe ran a 23:38. The frosh boys ran next led by Vincent Colarossi (17:29), AJ King (17:56), Stephen Cooper (18:04), Taylor Losi (18:57), Jack Ramsey (19:15), Nick Oddi (20:33), Pablo Gomez (20:39), Carl Niemi (21:40), Justin Schoppe (22:22) and Joel Begley (23:58). The boys placed 4th as a team.

The sophomore girls were led by Cristina Garcia (18:38) who easily ran away with the race to remain undefeated at Woodbridge successfully defending her victory from last year's frosh girls race. Niki MacWhirter placed 10th (20:32) followed by Brittany Burr (23:25), Esther McFaden (24:24), and Diana Garza (28:43). In the absence of Brittani, Jackie and Natalie the girls placed 7th as a team. Ryan Huning (17:31) and Grant Foraker (19:10) ran in the sophomore boys.

The junior and senior girls were joined by the late arrivals of sophomores Jackie Brody and Natalie Zaas racing in the girls varsity race. Emily Fuld's 19:40 led the way with Fallon Cislo (21:14), Catherine Price (22:14), Clancee Wasson (22:44), Jackie (22:54) and Natalie (28:02). This group placed 21st among 50 schools. Kevin Sutman (21:08) ran solo for OC in the junior race and Nick Matra (18:24) did the same in the senior race.

Charlie Petrie (15:22) and Hunter Hays (16:24) raced in the late night sweepstakes race, a first ever for a OC runner.
