4 OC Relay Records Fall at the Triton Invitational
The BFS Distance Medley (DMR) kicked off the day with a BFS OC Record 12:06. Ethan Long, recovering from a recent cold, led off in a 3:55 1200m. Then Justin rolled around the oval in a 54.9 second 400m. Charlie Petrie PR'd in a 2:21.6 800m on the third leg, also recently sick. Then Hunter Hays ran a PR and a new OC Freshman Record of 3:55.0 to anchor home the BFS OC Record bid. The old record was 12:46.
The BFS 4x100m placed second overall, winning their heat, in 46.26 for a season best performance. This also marks the first time a COach Patton relay team has defeated a Long Beach Poly relay team. This group raced the BFS 4x200m later in the day.
Back to the distance squad and another OC BFS Record. The 4x800m posted a 8:06. Ethan Led off again with a 2:19.9. Charlie ran second with his second PR of the day in the 800m. Justin hammered a 2:09. and advanced the team from 7th to 2nd overall. Hunter Hays ran the anchor laeg again and produced a 2:15. PR.
The girls varsity started theie day with the 4x1600m and a school record 23:37. This is the fastest time in this event Coac Smith has ever coached at any school. Laura Fredrickson led off with 6:10. Samantha Roesler took the baton and rolled PR 6:07. Maggie Stanley followed with a personal best of 6:02.3. Then anchoring the effort Roseanne Fleming cruised a comfortable 5:18.2.
Next up Rosie hammered a 2:19.40 800m placing 3rd overall behind two of the state finest. Look out Kate Grace we going to get you...
Then the girls concluded the day with the Distance Medley (DMR). Samantha Roelser led off running a 1200m in 4:27, Rosie carried the baton for 400m in 1:02, Maggie PR'd with a 2:38.9 800m and Laura closed in a 6:07 1600m. They set the OC record breaking Amber Meissner, Laura Fredrickson, Whitney Acton, Amanda Lompart record by 4 seconds. The girls will run this again at Arcadia and hope to dip under 13:33 (the fastest team Coach Smith has ever coached at any school).
Boys varsity had a solo event, the 4x1600m which we won't talk about...
Jeremy Reed equalled his OC Record of 5 ft 10 in in the high jump.
